MobileB and the WhatsApp Business API.
Two different things. The Business API is Meta's channel for a company to message customers from a dedicated business number. MobileB is a workspace on the numbers you already use. Many teams need the first for marketing at scale and the second for the conversations that actually close.
| WhatsApp Business API platforms | MobileB | |
|---|---|---|
| Runs on | A dedicated business number with a Meta business account | The numbers you already use, linked like WhatsApp Web |
| Your existing chats and groups | Not available; the channel starts empty | All of them, with history, in one inbox |
| Starting a conversation | Pre-approved message templates outside the 24-hour window | Type and send, as on your phone |
| Cost per message | A fee per message set by Meta, billed through the platform | None in MobileB |
| Volume at scale | Built for it: campaigns, notifications, high throughput | Built for conversations, with rate limits that protect your numbers |
| Who works the inbox | Agents and bots in the platform you choose | People you share with, and AI agents you connect with consent (10 grants on the beta plan) |
| Audit you can read | Depends on the platform | Shares and agent requests logged with time, IP and device; 90-day agent log |
| Encryption beyond WhatsApp | No | Advanced security between MobileB users, keys on the devices |
The Business API column describes the category as Meta documents it; fees, templates, windows and policies are set by Meta and change. Checked 21 August 2026 against Meta's published platform documentation.
Questions
Do I need the WhatsApp Business API to use MobileB?
No. MobileB joins the numbers you already use as a linked device, the way WhatsApp Web does. No Meta business account, templates or per-message fees are involved.
Can I use both?
Yes. Many teams use the Business API for marketing at scale and MobileB for the conversations that actually close, on the numbers customers already have.
Can my assistant work in the Business API?
Meta's platform policy for the Business API restricts general-purpose AI assistants; what it allows is a business's own customer-service bot. In MobileB, your assistant works on your own numbers under a consent screen you control, with attribution and a 90-day log.
